Summary

This dataset is for analysis by prefecture, processed and integrated by truestar based on the Current Population Survey published by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

Features/Usages

This is the data on the number of births and birth rate by prefecture until 2020. Data is available every five years from 1935, 1947, and 1950 onwards, and every year from 2013 onwards. It can be easily linked with other datasets such as “Prefectural Basic Data [PR_FD20]” using prefecture codes.

The birth rate represents the number of births per 1,000 population and is expressed in per mille (‰).

Special Notes

This dataset includes values for prefecture code “51” and prefecture name “foreign country”.
The national births in 1950 (Showa 25) includes 12 unspecified births. Please refer to the source for details.
