truestar inc. polygon and population statistics every year
Summary
This dataset includes the prefectural data, which is edited and integrated by truestar based on the regional data of Digital National Land Information provided by MLIT – Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the population statistic data of the national census. We collect the prefectural capital data from the municipal location information provided by GSI – Geographical Survey Institute – and provide the lat/long data and the point data in each polygon main point.
For your information, the islands that do not contain main points are all defined as isolated islands.

Features/Usages
We combined polygons to make it one record per prefectural code, so you can easily match with the prefectural statistic data. This dataset already includes the basic data such as population or the number of households. You can analyze the trading area by prefecture and visualize it easily.
We provide three types of polygon data; the one that we generalized the boundary of raw data, another excluding the isolated islands, and the last excluding only the isolated islands of Tokyo.
In addition, you can match with the statistic data by using the prefectural code and do the mapping easily with the BI and GIS tools by sharing the geography type.
