Summary
This dataset is an analytical dataset processed and integrated by truestar based on the National Land Numerical Information’s 500m mesh future population estimate data from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Features/Usages
This is a dataset of past population data from 2015 and 2020, broken down by 500-meter mesh and five-year age groups, as well as estimated population data at five-year interval until 2050. The names of prefectures and municipalities are assigned from the administrative district codes owned by the original data. By filtering by age group, prefecture name, and city/town name, you can easily extract only the necessary information.
By overlaying with POI of the trade area of the company’s stores and planned expansion sites, you can analyze the business impact based on future estimated population in the area, using demand forecasts and other methods.
Please note that this data is very heavy, so we strongly recommend that you first narrow down to one prefecture using the prefecture name (PREF_NAME) when mapping.
