The “medical care area” is established in the medical plan designated by each prefecture for the purpose of ensuring appropriate allocation of medical resources in order to provide comprehensive medical care in response to the medical needs of the region.
The “secondary medical care area” covers a wide range of healthcare for local residents, from disease prevention to inpatient treatment, and is basically designed to provide complete general medical care, including emergency medical care.
This dataset provides information on the type, name, area, population, and other information in addition to the secondary medical care area polygons.
