The “medical care area” is established in the medical plan designated by each prefecture for the purpose of ensuring appropriate allocation of medical resources in order to provide comprehensive medical care in response to the medical needs of the region.
The “primary medical care area” is a regional medical unit established to meet the medical demands for general diseases, where regular outpatient care such as primary care physicians is provided, and is the one with the highest frequency of use for residents.
This dataset provides primary medical care area polygons and their attribute information.
