Summary
This is a data set of basic information about Japanese corporations processed by truestar based on gBizINFO, which is publicly available by METI – Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Features/Usages
Corporate number is the number (consisting of 13 digits) which is designated for each legal entity and used for cases such as notifications to the registry office. Unlike national identity number (my number), in principle, corporate number is publicly available and can be used freely by anyone. The corporate number makes it easier to verify the name and location of companies and other legal entities, or to consolidate transaction information and collate names more efficiently.
This dataset provides basic information of legal entities such as corporate number, capital stock and number of employees.

Special Notes
About “UPDATE_DATE”, “PODB_UPDATE_DATE” and “PODB_UPDATE_DETAIL”
The original gBizINFO data (CSV download format, UTF-8 version) contains an “UPDATE_DATE” column. However, this column is linked to the National Tax Service’s corporate numbering system, and even if there is an update in the column after “REPRESENTATIVE_POSITION”, it is not reflected in the “UPDATE_DATE”.
Therefore, in PODB, truestar matches all columns to detect differences, gives the detection date as “PODB_UPDATE_DATE” and the detection content as “PODB_UPDATE_DETAIL”. There are two types:
① “PODB_UPDATE_DETAIL” = “PODB収集開始時点からデータあり”: “PODB_UPDATE_DATE” is 2022-06-06. It is not known when the data was updated because it existed before PODB handled it.
② “PODB_UPDATE_DETAIL” = “基本情報更新あり”: if “PODB_UPDATE_DATE” is later than 2022-06-07, and it detects that one of the columns contains new data, the date is set to “PODB_UPDATE_DATE”, and “PODB_UPDATE_DETAIL” states basic information update.
